Examples of Umbilical Artery Doppler Sonography.

VERY High Resistance Umbilical Arterial Flow
Below is the same sonogram showing Doppler information from the umbilical cord indicating high resistance in the umbilical artery. The sonogram on the right has the arterial flow in red and venous in blue. Note that the arterial has very high resistance flow as exhibited by reversed flow across the base line. Also note no amniotic fluid is observed.
